Grasshopper Or Cricket Control In Bannock County

If an outbreak or infestation of grasshoppers or crickets occurs in Bannock County, here is some information to keep in mind.

  1. If you are an agricultural landowner, there are some potential grant monies that have been given to the state for help in purchasing cricket and grasshopper bait. This is an application process that is filled out through the Agriculture Extension office for Bannock County (listed below).
  2. If a cricket or grasshopper infestation occurs in Bannock County, the Commissioners have a contract for aerial applications in place to help landowners control the outbreak on their own property. One reason for this contract is that most aerial applicators require a block of at least 300 acres to make it feasible for them to do the work. The contract allows the County to combine service for landowners that have less than the required three hundred acres into a single application. Each landowner would only be billed for the portion of the bill that affects their property, and by having a contract in place, the landowner can receive a guaranteed price and time for services.

Again, this would only apply to an outbreak, not for everyday control.
