Letter from Your Elected Official: Steve Herzog

by | Mar 6, 2024 | Highlights, Letter from Elected Official, Newsroom

The Bannock County Prosecutors Office has had some successes and challenges in the past year.

We had three prosecutors leave in the last six (6) months: Dave McNeill, Zoie Laggis, and Matthew Glover. On the bright side, we hired Jason Stanley to cover our misdemeanor caseload, Greg Hotrum to cover the felony caseload, and Monica Bansal to take on a caseload once she is sworn in for the Idaho bar in April of this year. We’re very excited to have them on our team!

Our office recently tried a 20-year-old cold-case homicide (State v. Brad Compher) and got a first-degree murder conviction earlier this week. JaNiece Price, Brian Trammell, and Jonathan Radford were the lead attorneys on the case, and they were supported during trial preparation and trial by Kelsey Larsen and Ashley Simons, two knowledgeable and reliable administrative assistants. Needless to say, everyone who worked on this case over the years and family members and friends of Nori Jones, the victim, waited a long time for this outcome, and we hope they have some sense of closure now.

I want to thank everyone for their patience with our office while the case was being prepared and tried. This case took a lot of time and focus from our office. We will do our best to catch up on completing tasks that may have been delayed. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
