The Prosecutor’s Office has been busy lately. We just brought on a new prosecuting attorney and administrative assistant who will bring some new energy and insights to the office. Two of our prosecutors have been taking cases to trial at a breakneck pace and ending up with a majority of positive verdicts.
Like other County offices/departments, we have been struggling to maintain a full staff, especially with attorneys. One position was open for more than 9 months with only one applicant who, fortunately, we were able to hire.
On the civil side of the office, we have had an uptick in work involving subdivision issues, changes to the mental commitment process, and requests for service from our various county departments and offices.
We continue to work on resolving a long-standing cold case homicide, State v. Compher, and the case involving Downard Funeral Home & Crematory.
I want to send out a big thanks to the staff at the Prosecutor’s Office. Without their hard work and good sense of humor, we would not be able to provide the broad range of quality services to the County and the citizens of Bannock County.
