Adult Probation & Pretrial

Public Safety Assessment (PSA)

Beginning January 3, 2023, the Bannock County Adult Probation and Pretrial department will begin using the Public Safety Assessment (PSA) to assess people charged with a crime. The information gathered from the assessment will be provided to arraignment judges to help them determine if the defendant may be successfully released pretrial and, if so, under what conditions.

Mission

The mission of the Bannock County Adult Probation & Pretrial Department is to protect the community from delinquency by imposing accountability for offenses committed and equipping offenders with the required competencies to live productively and responsibly in the community.

Probation Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who is my Probation Officer?
A: Please contact our office at (208) 236-7002 or 130 N. 6th Avenue Pocatello, ID 83201. Our office is open 8 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1 p.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday.


Q: How often do I need to check in?

A: You’ll need to check in with your Probation Officer on the required days agreed to during your intake meeting unless otherwise ordered by the presiding judge.

Q: What do I need to do if I want to go out of town?
A: Contact your Probation Officer before traveling. Complete and submit the Travel Request form to your Probation Officer via email or at our office for approval.


Q: Who do I contact about drug testing? 

A: Call daily between 5 a.m.—8 a.m. to the drug testing message line at (208) 286-4404 or (208) 240-9033. You may also log into my.averhealth.com. You must call this message line or log in online every day, 365 days/year, including weekends and holidays.

  • You will need to enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) you received from your Pretrial/Probation Officer during your intake meeting.
  • You must listen to the entire message until you hear a confirmation number.
  • The daily call-in message line hours are 5 a.m.—8 a.m.

If there is a conflict with the scheduled time due to employment, contact your Probation/Pretrial Officer.

Q: When can I come for my drug testing?
A: Your drug test will be scheduled by Averhealth. Be sure to listen to the entire message to hear all the details.

On the days you are instructed to test you may show up any time between the hours of 7:00 am – 11:00 am (weekdays) or 7:00 am – 10:00 am  (weekends & holidays).

  • On weekdays, the testing staff will allow you one last opportunity to provide a sample up to 11:30 am, but not if you came in after the 11:00 am cut off time.
  • On weekends and holidays, the testing staff will allow you one last opportunity to provide a sample up to 10:30 am, but not if you came in after the 10:00 am cut off time.

Q: How much does drug testing cost?
A: $15.00, unless the judge orders additional testing.
