Community weighs in on the future of Bannock County

BANNOCK COUNTY, Idaho — Hundreds of people are helping shape Bannock County’s future. Their input will guide the Planning & Development staff as they rewrite the 2040 Comprehensive Plan.

“We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the effort people put into sharing their thoughts with us. Their feedback is crucial to making a comprehensive plan that truly reflects our community’s goals for the future,” said Tristan Bourquin, Assistant Planning Director for Bannock County.

The comprehensive plan is a guiding document that outlines the county’s vision and direction over the next 20 years.

Public input was collected through seven open houses held throughout the county, an online survey, and written comments. More than 200 people attended the open houses, 778 people responded to the online survey, and 42 written comments were collected via email and at the open houses. Input was gathered from Jan. 1, 2024, until Feb. 25, 2024.

Now, the Planning & Development Department is reviewing the public input so they can begin drafting the new 2040 Comprehensive Plan based on that feedback. The updated draft is expected to be complete by Aug. 2024 and will be submitted for public review with an opportunity for a public hearing later this year.
